For working with Liza Pro, it is necessary to have contextual alternates activated. Never heard about this stuff before? No worries. In most programs this is on by default. Only in some older programs, you have to activate this manually. You can easily check this, with typing ohohoh (in Liza Display without space). If contextual alternates is activated (see pic. 3) all 3 oh’s are different. If not please select your program in the overview below to see how to activate it.
These are pre-designed combinations of letters, replacing 2 or more letters. Liza contains around 200 of these pre-designed 2- and 3-letter combinations.
Creative Suite 5/4/3, InDesign Contextual Alternates and Ligatures are on by default. You can see the OpenType features by opening the fold-out menu on the top right corner of the character palette.
To change the OpenType settings for a text, select the text and activate or deactivate features. Features activated will be marked with a hook. The changes will be only applied on the text selected (not on the whole text box).
